Rachel Woody

Hi, my name is Rachel Woody and I am a 16 year old, 5'-10" setter/right side, on the 18-1's team.

I am currently a junior at Vista Murrieta High School where I am a Team Captain for our Varsity squad.  We run a 6-2 offense where I Set and Hit as either an OH or RS.   We are a young team that has struggled at times, but we were still able to be ranked as high as 8th in the CIF 1AA poll, repeat as La Jolla Beach Cities Champions for the fourth year in a row, finish tied for 15th at the 2014 Durango Invitational in Las Vegas, finish 3rd at the very competitive 2014 California Challenge in San Diego, and play competitively in the tough Southwestern League.

Our goal is to win league and make a deep run in the 2014 CIF playoffs.  In 2012, I was the only freshman to make our very talented and nationally ranked Varsity team.  That year, we accomplished an undefeated season in league and went all the way to the 2nd round of CIF before a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Dana Hills.

Last club season, I set and hit my 16-1’s team to a Division One finish in the SCVA.  In 2013, I was the youngest player on a very talented 951 Elite 16-1’s team that placed 15th in the Open Division at the 2013 Girls AAU Championships in Orlando, Florida.

Prior to high school, I was able to set my 951 Elite 14-1’s team to a 5th place finish in the Open Division at the 2012 Girls AAU Championships in Orlando, Florida.

This is my 9th year of playing volleyball and my 6th year on an elite team. I am so proud to be a part of a club environment where everyone works hard and works together towards the same goal.   My goal this upcoming club season is to not only improve as a setter, but to also improve in all areas of the game and be an “all-around” player.  These improvements will allow me to continue to compete at a very elite level and hopefully, make me attractive to collegiate coaches.

My ultimate dream is to become a “student” athlete and play volleyball at a four year university. I am looking forward to an awesome college experience where I plan to major in American Sign Language, Communication Disorders, Nursing, or teaching Special Needs children. Besides volleyball, I absolutely love going to the beach, hanging out with my friends, and helping out with the Special Needs kids at my church.
