RUBY MORSE
CLASS OF 2022 Committed - University of Providence STATS Position: Middle Blocker / Outside Hitter / Opposite Height: 6’0” GPA: 4.0 |
Hello, my name is Ruby Morse. I am an 18 year old right side, outside and middle blocker on 951 Elite 18-Dennis. This is my sixth season playing club volleyball, and I have played every attacking position on the net. Wherever my team needs me is where I will play. This year, I have enjoyed getting to play right side for our team. This spot allows me lots of variation with my hitting, I can hit slides and red’s which both score effectively. This is my third season with Coach Dennis, every year we have been able to place high in both SCVA and PVL to compete with the best in our age division. Currently I attend Murrieta Valley High School where I just finished my senior season and received the Nighthawk award. This is an award for someone who embodies our school, being the most inspirational, most dedicated and most hard-working individual in the gym. This award recognized my love for volleyball; I always strive to be the best in the gym and work the hardest to learn new things which helps me play at the highest level possible.
Outside of volleyball, I am involved in our Leadership program at my High School, which has recently been named “West Coast National Student Section of the Year”. In this class we organize events around campus and foresee all the expenses/ clubs coming in and out of our school. Specifically in this class, I am the commissioner of Homecoming where we planned the Homecoming pep rally, organized the court and the half time show at our Homecoming football game. This role has allowed me to be creative and listen to what the students want out of their Homecoming experience before the dance. This will be my fifth year in a leadership class, which has helped me learn leadership skills which can translate onto the court. Along with Leadership, I am taking all IB classes (similar to AP classes) and am involved in our school's CSF club where we give back to the community through tutoring other students. Even with my workload and schedule I have been able to keep a 4.0 cumulative GPA throughout my four years in High School.
Outside of our weekly practices, I am in the gym extra nights out of the week getting reps with our boys volleyball team or with some of my teammates. I love being at the gym to get better and work on my game outside of practices. Along with extra reps, I also help at elementary schools teaching TK- fifth graders volleyball which has been so rewarding. Showing these kids my passion for the game and teaching them to love it too is an amazing experience. In my freetime I enjoy spending time with friends, going to the beach or spending time with family hanging out or watching my siblings sporting events.
